Liability of Carrier - CMR

What is the CMR ?

The companies that are licensed to operate in the international transport of goods by road are required to have and maintain valid an insurance policy to cover their liability for damage to objects transported in accordance with the Convention on the International Carriage Contract goods by Road, commonly known as CMR.

The transportation contract is established by means of a consignment note, also known as waybill or simply CMR.

It is for the carrier to check the accuracy of constant information on CMR and inspect the apparent condition of the goods, noting any anomaly. At the destination the same procedure should be carried out by the receiver.
